The New Face of Keyword Research Tools.

There’s a new generation of keyword research tools becoming available on the market that go beyond the traditional functionality of monthly search counts, number of competing websites, and various pay per click data. These tools are designed to help internet marketers build highly optimized websites that are based on latent semantic indexing or LSI. LSI is a technology that Google has been incorporating in their search algorithms for quite some time. Basically what LSI does is to look more broadly at a website, not just keywords that are contained in content of the site. LSI looks for words and phrases related to the main topic of the website that well constructed websites also have included in them.

For example, if you are building a website on golfing, ther is a high probability that you woulds also find the names Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson on that website even though neither phrase contains the word golf. This is a simplistic example of LSI in action. LSI analysis involves looking at your golfing website and if it did not mention words that you would expect to find in a well constructed golfing website, like Tiger Woods or Phil Mickelson, it’s not going to rank that website as high as another website that does include those phrases. So latent semantic indexing is a way of analyzing a website to see if it includes the types of phrases that you would expect to surround your main keyword or keyword phrase.
