Market Letter Mysteries
Agatha Christie wrote great mystery novels. O. Henry’s works usually had a twist at the end, which led to an unexpected result. In financial reporting, the end of the story really never comes, since the story line continues to unfold. My favorite market letter is one which attempts to unlock such mysteries of the stock market as may be hiding underneath the surface at all times. This particular author is a superb analyst to begin with; but his writing simplifies a complex and arcane subject so that the layman can understand what is going on behind the scenes. He writes sparingly but pithily. One always knows where he is headed, step by step in his analysis; and even though the outome may be in doubt while the novel is being read, there is never any question as to the certainty of his outlook. As he has said so many times: "It’s fun to be right."
