Hidden Alimony
Even though ex-husbands in general seem to be less plagued by alimony than they used to be, child support is still a big issue for them. Because it is often difficult or impossible to make ex-wives accountable for how they spend child support payments, these payments can turn into a sort of undeserved “hidden” alimony. One strategy on how to reduce alimony that is “hidden” within child support is to suggest that the child’s mother set aside a percentage of all child support into a college savings fund for the child. No matter what, this suggestion will cast you in a good light, and the mother in a bad one if she balks at it. Whether or not the suggestion pans out, it should only work in your favor in the long run.
