What exactly is the success rate in AA and other 12 step fellowships?  It’s not really an easy number to pin down, nor is it reliable to take any statistics you might hear and treat them as absolute fact. 

The truth is that the aa success rate is very subjective due to the extreme anonymity of the program.  The 10 year census data that AA puts out would lead one to believe that maybe half of all those who “really try” can find success in the program, but out of everyone who ever walks through the doors of AA, perhaps only 1 to 3 percent will gain long term sobriety from it.
