When my daughter’s boyfriend announced that he was going to Berkeley after high school, we assumed he meant he was going to college there. We were so excited and so proud of him. We threw a big going away party for him and everything. We couldn’t figure out why his parents didn’t seem proud. They didn’t ahve a party for him. They seemed relieved to see him go. Turned out, he wasn’t going to college afterall. He was in drug rehab Berkeley. His parents knew he was headed to rehab. We didn’t. We thought he was off to college.
