4 Things Your Mother Never Told You About Heartburn and Heartburn In Children!

Here are 4 tips about heartburn.

It always fascinates me that you can always find something new about a topic if you look hard enough, and these 4 tips are useful reminders - especially where Heartburn In Children is concerned.

It’s always worth digging a little deeper for heartburn resources online as there is a lot of great stuff out there.

Tip #1

Everyone loves a big and hearty meal, but the traditional American Family dinners may not be the best thing for the acid reflux sufferers.  Instead of waiting for a large family meal to send you into the evening or a big lunch to help overcome the rest of the business day, try eating smaller and more frequent meals to alleviate the acid reflux problem.  With less food to distend the stomach and less work required by the stomach for the stomach to be emptied, the chances of an episode of acid reflux occurring will drop considerably.

Tip #2

One of the biggest mistakes people with acid reflux make is eating late in the evening.  In fact, doctors suggest that those who suffer with night time acid reflux or indigestion should not eat up to three hours before they plan to go bed.

Tip #3

Try avoiding the chocolate, cola drinks, peppermints, and alcohol as they tend to irritate the lower sphincter and cause acid reflux.  Fatty foods and smoking can also cause the problem, which can humorously be alleviated at times by chewing gum.  Since the gum creates more saliva to offset the acid in the esophagus you are effectively battling the acid that is trying to travel back up your system.

Tip #4

When the muscle that is supposed to prevent stomach acid from escaping up into the esophagus gets to weak to do its job and the acid keeps on gushing back to the esophagus, that is called acid reflux. It is a lot like heart burn but a lot more uncomfortable as generally there is much more acids and pepsins pushing back to the esophagus.

Well…there were your 4 tips. I hope that you enjoyed them.
