Social marketing has become a very effective way to generate traffic to a webpage, but it generally isn’t thought of as a method of increasing a webpage’s Pagerank. This is because most of the major social bookmarking sites like Digg and Delicious add the “nofollow” attribute to all of the links. This prevents any of the bookmarking site’s Pagerank from flowing through to the bookmarked paged. This isn’t always the case, however. There are several large social bookmarking websites that still allow Pagerank to pass. You can find a list of these Dofollow bookmarking sites in many internet marketing directories. While I don’t advise spamming these sites with your links, bookmarking some of your more important pages could be beneficial to your site.
