If you don’t have good aviation headsets, you need to get some. I went up in a plane with a buddy of mine who had cheap headsets from a bargain bin. Now, sometimes you can find good deals in bargain bins, but not this time. I could hear the engine noise in my ears and could barely hear my friend when he talked to me. On the ground, I asked him if my headset was busted, but he said that they were always like that. I had a headache. So please, if you are looking at aviation headsets and trying to decide whether or not to go with a cheap set, don’t do it! Save the ears of your friends and family members, and get a headset that actually does noise canceling. You should be able to hear the other person clearly without them yelling, and you should leave the plane without a headache.
