Crossing streets without lhd cars

I nearly killed myself the first time I went to Europe. It was out of sheer inexperience. I was in Dublin, and looking for the bus to the city where I would be studying for the next few months. I looked left, then right, then left, and crossed the street. Out of nowhere I heard this loud honking and the screeching of brakes. I was used to left hand drive cars, or lhd for short, which drive on the right side of the road. It didn’t even occur to me that I should look right, then left, then right if people aren’t driving lhd cars. Boy, was I lucky!
